ProComp Early Return to Work Program
The purpose of the Early Return Program utilized by ProComp customers is to provide an injured worker who has been prescribed temporary work restrictions or limitations from their normal job duties with the opportunity to earn higher benefits than they would otherwise receive from the insurance company and at the same time reduce the cost of the claim. Reducing the cost of the claim lowers the employer's experience mod resulting in greater workers' comp premium savings.
Remember, temporary disability payments can be suspended if an injured worker refuses to accept an offer for transitional or modified work.
Labor laws permit the employee performing modified work that is different than normal job duties. If a reduced wage is paid, the insurance company will pay the injured worker additional wage loss benefits. Here is an example.
ASSUME: Average Weekly wage: $26 per hour x 40 hours per week = $1,040
ASSUME: Modified duty at $10 per hour x 40 hours = $400 Insurance company will pay $426.67 ($1,040 - 400 = $640 x 2/3)
Modified Duty Benefit $400 + $426.67 = $826.67
*Wage loss or temporary partial benefits are paid at 2/3 of the difference between the avg. weekly wage and the actual wage earned
